Ah...my wee one learned the rest of that "poem" last Thursday and hasn't stopped saying it.
Since it is Halloween I wish to share with you a poem that has stuck with me since I was a wee one myself.
Black and Gold
By Nancy Byrd Turner

Everything is black and gold,
Black and gold, to-night:
Yellow pumpkins, yellow moon
Yellow candlelight;

Jet-black cats with golden eyes
Shadows black as ink,
Firelight blinking in the dark
With a yellow blink

Black and gold, black and gold
Nothing in between-
When the world turns black and gold
Then it's Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
May you feast well tonight and take the time to howl at the moon!

I was collecting leaves for a friends wedding yesterday and was very inspired
by the color and shapes of the leaves.  The reds and burgandies were so rich.
They looked so alive, yet dying.  I couldnt' help but try to get only the
perfect looking leaves, but then I reflected on the marriage that the leaves
were for and the metephor in looking for "the perfect leaf".  I decided to
choose leaves with imperfections because even though you might find "the perfect
one" they are ultimately flawed, but it is their imperfections which make them
beautiful still.
